Dr. Tom Jeerakathil
Dr. Jeerakathil raised in the wilds of northern Saskatchewan; MD (UofS), then neurology residency (UofA); a brief stint in Boston to complete an MSc in Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health, a Stroke Fellowship with the Framingham Heart Study, and have a lot of good espresso and cannoli in little Italy. He was also certified in Basic Keelboat sailing but hasn’t been in any kind of boat since. He is currently Associate Director of the Edmonton Stroke Program (read: associate cat herder), Associate Professor with the U of A, the Northern Stroke Lead for the Cardiovascular and Stroke Strategic Clinical Network, and a general neurology, stroke and telestroke neurologist within AHS. He is involved in research, teaching, and is the lead or co-lead for a number of quality improvement and health services research initiatives. He is co-PI of the Stroke Ambulance project which means he will finally get an expensive big truck after nearly 16 years in Alberta.
